The Spanish-Portuguese Association of Natural Resources and Environmental Economics (AERNA) is organizing its fourth congress, which will be held in June 2010 and is directed to researchers in the field of environmental economics in order to foster interactions among them.

Past editions of the congress have brought together more than a hundred researchers from different Universities and Research Centres in Spain and Portugal whose interest is focused on issues related to the study of the interconnectedness between economic and ecological systems, as well as European researchers that seek to come together to exchange scientific knowledge.

This Association has chosen Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as the venue for the congress in support of the group of researchers at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) working on this field and also due to the privileged location, near Europe and Africa.

The Congress is organized by the Research Group ECOMAS (Sustainable Development, Economics and Tourism) and the Ayuntamiento de Santa Lucía, looking forward to promote the projects and the good practices of the Comarca del Sureste in the Island and the activities of the Chair UNESCO of Sustainable Development and  Tourism Planning of the ULPGC.
